PROTECT OUR PUBLIC LANDS & HISTORIC PLACES

The Antiquities Act is one of America’s most effective conservation laws. Through it, the U.S. has established some of our most popular national parks and iconic landscapes. We’re talking about the Grand Canyon, Acadia National Park, Muir Woods, and more special places like them.

But right now, this critical tool is under threat. Congress is considering a bill that would repeal the Antiquities Act (S.220/H.R.521), and a federal review could put our national monuments at risk. RE: Protect our public lands and historic places

I am deeply concerned by the proposed bill S.220/H.R.521, which seeks to repeal the Antiquities Act. This law has played a crucial role in protecting some of our country's most cherished landscapes, including the Grand Canyon, Olympic, Acadia, Bryce Canyon, and Death Valley National Parks, places that millions of Americans, including me, treasure.

Protecting public lands isn't just about preserving natural beauty; these protections also support a thriving outdoor recreation economy and ensure public access for all of us - hikers and bikers, campers and anglers, birders and explorers - today and for generations to come.

Americans overwhelmingly support conservation and efforts to preserve access to the outdoors. I urge you to listen to the voices of those who rely on these lands for recreation, cultural heritage, and economic benefits. Please oppose this harmful bill and defend the Antiquities Act.
