Take Action

Keep the Backcountry Open

Generations of hunters, anglers, off-roaders, backcountry skiers, and everyday adventurers have relied on America’s public lands—the wild places that provide open access to elk country, trout streams, rugged mountain routes, and untouched powder lines. These lands are the backbone of our traditions and outdoor heritage.

But those same lands now face growing threats—from privatization and locked-off access to underfunding that leaves trails, roads, and habitats at risk.

Act now to protect the places we love. Tell Congress to keep public lands in public hands!

RE: Keep Public Lands in Public Hands

To

I am deeply concerned about ongoing efforts that could weaken or remove federal protections for America's public lands. These changes, including land transfer proposals, closure of public access routes, and chronic under-resourcing, threaten the mountains and outdoor spaces where Americans hunt, fish, hike, ski, and off-road.

Public lands provide beauty, recreation, and connection to nature. For skiers and hikers, they offer adventure and open terrain. For hunters and anglers, they provide healthy wildlife habitats and a chance to pass down traditions. For off-roaders and overlanders, they ensure access to rugged roads and routes that fuel outdoor recreation and local economies.

These lands must remain safeguarded by federal protections for the enjoyment of future generations. States simply do not have the resources to maintain these lands, putting them at greater risk of being sold off, degraded, or closed to the public. Such outcomes would be devastating for rural communities, wildlife, and the outdoor recreation economy that supports jobs and small businesses.

These lands unite us and must remain a shared legacy. I urge you to oppose any proposals that reduce public access or lead to privatization, and to champion stronger protections and funding that keep these lands open and thriving for future generations.

Thank you for your commitment to preserving our natural heritage.

Sincerely,
