New Yorkers deserve better parks: Save the QueensWay

The QueensWay—a long-awaited 3.5-mile greenway and park for Central and South Queens—just lost more than $117 million in promised federal funding. This once-in-a-generation project would transform an abandoned rail line into a safe walking and biking path, new green space, and a vital connection for 245,000 residents and 28 school communities.

We can’t let this project slip away. Tell your local leaders you want the QueensWay fully funded and built without delay so families, students, and neighbors across Queens can enjoy the safe, connected, and green future we’ve worked so hard for.

RE: Help restore funding for the QueensWay

To

I'm writing to ask you to help restore $117 million in federal funding for the QueensWay project in New York.

This project will transform an abandoned 3.5-mile rail corridor into a safe greenway and park for 245,000 residents and 28 schools in Central and South Queens. These neighborhoods urgently need more outdoor space and safe walking/biking routes.

The QueensWay will connect communities, improve safety, create hundreds of jobs, and bring new life to our local economy. The funding was awarded to the City of New York after a robust and competitive process, but it was pulled back with passage of the budget reconciliation bill.

Please work with your colleagues to restore this funding so Queens can finally see this long-overdue investment.

Thank you for your leadership and support.

Sincerely,
