Take Action

You can help protect our national forests.

Our national forests and private forestlands are home to tremendous biological diversity. They also provide important value to communities across the country by collecting and filtering our drinking water and cleaning the air we breathe. Additionally, national forests generate jobs and provide special areas for recreation.

Despite the importance and popularity of our national forests, they are facing unprecedented threats from real estate development, aggressive harvesting, and severe mega-fires. These supersized fires burn more than 100,000 acres at a time and occur every single year.

We cannot stand by and watch as our forests are destroyed acre by acre.  Take action now and demand Congress protect our national forests today!

Congress is considering increasing support for the Community Forest and Open Space Program, which provides grants to local governments, tribes, and nonprofit organizations to create community forests. These forests are managed by the community for the community. They encourage sustainable forest management, and also protect water quality, wildlife habitat, and recreational opportunities.

Since 2001, we’ve helped to create more than 30 community forests across the country covering more than 300,000 acres! But the work to protect our nation’s forestlands is far from over.  Help us protect more of America’s forestlands by taking action today.

Thank you for standing with us to help save America’s forestlands.

By taking action, you will receive important updates about our work and how you can help Trust for Public Land protect public land and parks for people.

RE: Protect our nation's forests

To

As an avid supporter of the outdoors, I urge you to support the protection and restoration of our nation's forests through the Community Forest and Open Space Conservation Program.

Our national forests are home to tremendous biological diversity and provide important value to communities across the country. These incredible places cannot continue to be degraded as climate change-driven mega-fires grow each year.

Increasing funding for this critical forest conservation program will help us protect forestlands across the country. It will also encourage sustainable forest management while protecting water quality, wildlife habitat, and recreational opportunities.

Our national forests are unique places that benefit all Americans. Please listen to the millions of Americans who love our forests by increasing investments in the Community Forest and Open Space Program today.

Sincerely,
