Take Action

Transform Tribal Schoolyards for Children

Every child deserves a safe and healthy environment in which to learn and grow. This is why we’re partnering with the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) and tribally controlled schools to revitalize tribal schoolyards.

Join us in advocating for increased BIE funding to provide students with safe, engaging schoolyards that foster a love of learning, promote well-being, and honor Indigenous relationships with land.

By taking action, you will receive important updates about our work and how you can help Trust for Public Land protect public land and parks for people.

RE: Increase funding for the Bureau of Indian Education

To

As a concerned constituent, I urge you to support increased funding for the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). Tribal schools are critical in providing quality education to Tribal and Indigenous students nationwide. However, many Tribal schoolyards are in dire need of improvement, which hampers students' learning experience and overall well-being.

With limited resources, it has become increasingly challenging for Tribal schools to provide safe and conducive learning environments for students. By investing in Tribal schoolyards, we can help Native youth access healthy outdoor spaces that uplift Indigenous knowledge, language, physical wellness, and a deeper connection to the land.

For these reasons, I strongly urge you to consider the long-term benefits such an investment would bring to countless students. Improved schoolyards will foster better educational outcomes and contribute to the overall health and well-being of our future leaders.

Sincerely,
