Take Action

Urge Congress to fund Community Schoolyards® projects today

Spending time in nature reduces stress, depression, and anxiety. Yet, many children across the country don’t have access to nature—either close to home or at school.

At TPL, we’re working to transform asphalt schoolyards into vibrant parks with trees, gardens, outdoor classrooms, and innovative play to provide educational and health benefits to kids and communities. Together with our partners and supporters, we’ve created or transformed nearly 300 schoolyards across the United States.

Help us unlock access to nature for students across the country—urge your members of Congress to fund Community Schoolyards® projects today!

By taking action, you will receive important updates about our work and how you can help Trust for Public Land protect public land and parks for people.

RE: Unlock access to nature for students across the country

To [Decision Maker],

I urge you to fund Community Schoolyards® projects today. Your support will help turn our nation's asphalt schoolyards into vibrant places for kids to play and learn outdoors. Transforming these desolate spaces into dynamic outdoor learning environments will bring students significant health and educational benefits.

Funding Community Schoolyards® projects will accomplish many important goals, including:

- Conserve water, create wildlife habitat, and increase climate resilience
- Grow healthy food, trees, and pollinator plants
- Provide opportunities for students to be inspired by nature every day
- Improve mental health and concentration of students
- Provide a space for kids to play and learn in nature
- Increase student activity levels

Together, we can improve the mental and physical health of 50 million kids nationwide, one schoolyard at a time.

Sincerely,
