Take Action

Stop attacks on the Land and Water Conservation Fund!

America’s best conservation program—the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF)—is under attack.

We sent nearly 8,000 letters to Congress leading up to Day on the Hill, where TPL staff and 74 volunteers met in person with 93 congressional offices to show strong support for LWCF and conservation funding.

Thanks to your advocacy, we secured 10 new cosponsors for the Outdoors for All Act (H.R. 1065).

But with critical conservation projects on the line, we can’t stop here.

Take action now and urge your members of Congress to stop this attack on LWCF today!

By taking action, you will receive important updates about our work and how you can help Trust for Public Land protect public land and parks for people.

RE: Don't cut or redirect LWCF funding

To [Member of Congress],

I am writing to you again because I am extremely disappointed in the recent attacks on land conservation funding and the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). For over 55 years, LWCF has protected over 45,000 state and local park projects in all 50 states. Cutting or redirecting congressionally authorized LWCF funds would significantly compromise critical local, state, and federal efforts aimed at supporting parks, trails, and other outdoor recreation needs. It would also stop vital conservation projects intended to save unprotected areas across the country, including those in Lolo National Forest in Montana, Zion National Park in Utah, and the Santa Monica Mountains in California. Therefore, I urge you to ensure these proposals never see the light of day so the program can continue to dedicate funding to critical projects across the country.

Sincerely,
