Take Action

Urge Congress to advocate for policies that protect air and water

As the impacts of climate change worsen, public lands—and the natural resources they protect—are increasingly vulnerable.

This Earth Day, urge members of Congress to advocate for policies that protect public land, which provides vital wildlife habitat and serves as a natural filter for our air and water.

Choices we make in the next few years could help us avoid some of the worst effects of climate change.

Please take a moment to write to your representatives today to let them know that protecting public lands is crucial to our health, well-being, and future.

By taking action, you will receive important updates about our work and how you can help Trust for Public Land protect public land and parks for people.

RE: Protect public lands and our climate

To [Member of Congress],

We must do everything in our power to fight climate change. The world's top climate scientists have evidence that there is little time to fight its worst outcomes. Cities and towns, where 80 percent of Americans now live, are particularly vulnerable to heat waves and more powerful storms. And we're already seeing unprecedented droughts, rising sea levels, and severe wildfires.

To combat this reality and to protect people around the country, we need to safeguard the open spaces that support critical wildlife habitat, protect our air and water, and draw carbon from the atmosphere to store in landscapes. That's why I urge you, as my representative, to protect public lands that are vital for our health, well-being, and future before it's too late.

Sincerely,
