Take Action

Stand up for at-risk landscapes!

It's been five years since the tragic gutting of Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments. However, we were able to reverse the cuts and help secure critical protections for these iconic national monuments once again.

Our iconic landscapes are still threatened by long-term development, habitat loss, and the desecration of cultural sites and historic artifacts.

Urge President Biden to use his executive authority to protect critical landscapes such as Great Bend of the Gila and Plum Island as national monuments today!

By taking action, you will receive important updates about our work and how you can help Trust for Public Land protect public land and parks for people.

RE: Designate these special landscapes as national monuments

Dear President Biden,

Our national monuments, public lands, and waters help define who we are as a nation by telling the story of our historical, cultural, and natural heritage. As an avid supporter of the outdoors, I urge you to designate Great Bend of the Gila and Plum Island as national monuments.

Presidents from both sides of the aisle have used the Antiquities Act to protect hundreds of millions of acres of America's most significant cultural and recreational landscapes. Many of the public lands that we know and love today - such as Grand Canyon and Arches National Parks - were first protected as national monuments. Without the foresight of past presidents, these places might not be the beautiful, conserved landscapes they are today.

Our national monument landscapes are the pride of our nation and tremendous drivers of the outdoor recreation economy, supporting businesses in gateway communities. As you work to protect 30 percent of America's lands and waters by 2030, please include Great Bend of the Gila and Plum Island as a part of that promise.

Sincerely,
