Take Action

Sign your petition to stand up for national monuments!

Many of the public lands that we know and love—such as Grand Canyon and Arches National Parks—were first protected as national monuments. Despite the value these iconic places bring to people from all walks of life, iconic landscapes across the country at risk of development, habitat loss, and the desecration of cultural and historical artifacts are not protected under national monument status.

Our national monuments are tremendous drivers of the outdoor recreation economy, supporting tourism and local businesses in gateway communities. The beautiful Joshua trees of Avi Kwa Ame, the canyons of Castner Range, and the cultural treasures of the Gila River valley should be protected now and for generations to come.

From Avi Kwa Ame and Castner Range to the Great Bend of the Gila, we need to make our voices heard on mountain peaks, in rolling valleys, and across the plains to designate special, at-risk landscapes as national monuments. Sign now to tell your representatives to establish these landscapes as national monuments today!

By taking action, you will receive important updates about our work and how you can help Trust for Public Land protect public land and parks for people.

RE: Designate these special landscapes as national monuments

To [Decision Maker],

Our national monuments and public lands and waters help define who we are as a nation by telling the story of our historical, cultural, and natural heritage. As an avid supporter of the outdoors, I urge you to designate Avi Kwa Ame, Castner Range, the Great Bend of the Gila, the site of the Springfield Race Riot, and Plum Island as national monuments.

Presidents from both sides of the aisle have used the Antiquities Act to protect hundreds of millions of acres of America's most significant cultural and recreational landscapes. Many of the public lands that we know and love today - such as Grand Canyon and Arches National Parks - were first protected as national monuments. Without the foresight of past presidents, these places might not be the beautiful, conserved landscapes they are today.

Our national monument landscapes are the pride of our nation and tremendous drivers of the outdoor recreation economy, supporting businesses in gateway communities. The beautiful Joshua trees of Avi Kwa Ame, the canyons of Castner Range home to rare and endangered species, and the geoglyphs of the Gila River valley should be protected now and for generations to come. Please make establishing these national monuments a priority.

Sincerely,
