Sign Now: Preserve Plum Island!
Plum Island’s lush meadows, lapping ocean waves, and largely undisturbed open space makes it the perfect place for wildlife—and developers. The island, which is situated about 100 miles outside of New York City, has been at risk of being sold to the highest bidder.
It is time for a permanent solution to protecting Plum Island. Urge President Biden to designate Plum Island as a national monument under the Antiquities Act today!
Presidents from both sides of the aisle have used the Antiquities Act to protect hundreds of millions of acres of America’s most significant cultural and historic landscapes. Many of the public lands that we know and love today—such as Grand Canyon and Arches National Parks—were first protected as national monuments. Without the foresight of past presidents, these places may not be the beautiful, conserved landscapes that they are today.
Will you help to preserve this pristine island by sending a message to President Biden now?
In addition to hosting a vast array of wildlife—from painted turtles to piping plovers—the island is home to several historic buildings, including Plum Island Lighthouse, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. Plum Island is also a place of significant cultural value to local Indigenous people.
Please help ensure Plum Island can be conserved for generations to come—send your letter to President Biden today!
