Take Action

Urge your representatives to vote on the most comprehensive climate legislation in history

The Senate just passed the most comprehensive climate change legislation in U.S. history—the Inflation Reduction Act.

Now, we need the House to vote. The Inflation Reduction Act will provide critical funding to help address the climate crisis by investing in climate-smart agriculture and natural climate solutions. Cities and towns across the country will be able to plant millions of trees to absorb stormwater and to cool historically underserved neighborhoods most impacted by climate change.

The act also includes funding for the USDA’s Forest Legacy Program, which conserves private forests and improves carbon sequestration capacities against an ever-present threat of conversion and loss.

Please take action now: urge your representative to vote YES on the Inflation Reduction Act today!

It is essential that this legislation get onto the president’s desk without delay. Thank you for helping to advance these natural climate solutions and critical conservation opportunities that will help to combat the ever-present threat of our changing climate.

By taking action, you will receive important updates about our work and how you can help Trust for Public Land protect public land and parks for people.

RE: Vote YES on the Inflation Reduction Act

To [Decision Maker],

As an avid supporter of the outdoors, I urge you to vote YES in support of the Inflation Reduction Act.

The Inflation Reduction Act will provide much needed funding to help address the climate crisis and protect vulnerable communities from the deadly effects of climate change. Millions of dollars will be invested in climate-smart agriculture and natural climate solutions. Parks and open space help to counter the worst effects of climate change and with funding from the Urban and Community Forestry Assistance program, cities and towns across the country will be able to plant millions of trees to absorb stormwater and to cool historically underserved neighborhoods most impacted by climate change.

The package also includes $700 million for the USDA's Forest Legacy Program, which conserves private forests and improves carbon sequestration capacities against an ever-present threat of conversion and loss. Protected forests maintain traditional land-based economies and supports local businesses while also protecting wildlife, watersheds, outdoor recreation areas, and other public resources. Just as we all depend on America's forests to capture and store carbon, countless communities rely on them to ensure clean drinking water and sustain local economies.

The natural climate solutions and conservation opportunities throughout this bill will make a real difference in the lives of Americans and the future of the world we share. Therefore, I urge you to support this vital legislation and get it onto the president's desk without delay.

Sincerely,
