Take Action

Tell Congress to support emergency funding for local parks!

Helping Americans endure COVID-19 — and recover from its devastating effects — is the top priority for the incoming Congress and the Biden-Harris administration. Local parks stimulate economies, support public health and build a sense of community — all things that are more critical now than ever.

RE: Support the emergency investment of $500 million for local parks

To

I'm writing to urge you to support the emergency investment of $500 million for local parks in a future economic stimulus or infrastructure package.

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, local parks services and employment are threatened with looming budget cuts. A one-time investment of $500 million will protect at-risk jobs, spur local economic development, improve outdoor recreation infrastructure, while addressing historic inequities in park access. This money will help communities address outdoor recreation deficits by supporting projects in cities and urbanized areas that create new outdoor recreation spaces, reinvigorate existing parks, and form connections between people and the outdoors. We must ensure local parks are integrated into our recovery rather than becoming collateral damage.

As Congress weigh possible economic stimulus or infrastructure packages to preserve and bring back jobs, investments in our local parks will lead to stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities for generations to come.

Sincerely,
