Take Action

Sign Now: Honor Black Wall Street

The time is past due to honor Black Wall Street as a national monument. This recognition is essential to celebrate Black excellence and entrepreneurship and to confront and acknowledge the enduring racism in our country.

Less than a quarter of our national parks and monuments represent historically marginalized and underrepresented communities. Together, we can change this.

Please urge Congress to protect Black Wall Street as a national monument today.

By taking action, you will receive important updates about our work and how you can help Trust for Public Land protect public land and parks for people.

RE: Honor Black Wall Street

To

The tragic events that transpired in the Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma, on May 31, 1921, are among the most devastating in our nation's history. The massacre on Black Wall Street destroyed a vibrant, thriving community and left scars that have rippled through generations of people in Oklahoma and across the country.

I believe deeply in the importance of telling the whole story of America's past, including its triumphs and tragedies. That's why I'm asking you to support legislation to designate Black Wall Street as a national monument. This isn't just about preserving history; it's about acknowledging the resilience and strength of the Black people who built Greenwood and honoring their legacy.

I urge you to protect this essential piece of our history. This recognition is overdue and vital for the generations who will inherit the responsibility of building a better tomorrow.

Sincerely,
